When I shot, I was just taking a picture of my students having fun in their last night during our field trip (their last one before leaving the university). The situation was really difficult to shoot as I like (no flash, low velocity, max ISO 1600), stroboscopic lamps, noise, people dancing and jumping… I just raised my arm and took a “blind” shot. Now, converting the image to b&w, I like her standing under the light. Her gaze, expression, the shadows against her hair and skin… Like if she was waiting for the camera, posing without caring about the party around her. No, it was not a pose (I asked her the next morning), she was thinking about her future and she felt leaving a part of her life. That was a moment when she realized that after that party she would face real life on her own. No fear, a little worried, feeling adult.
