Fallas 2012. The future (1).

The tradition is rooted in the kids since an early age. Despite the physical effort that implies this festivity (the clothes are really heavy and the hairdo must be saved from one day to the other, implying difficulties to sleep), they are happy and proud to participate and they are one of the more important elements in the streets.

    • Thanks, Cornelia!!! I’ve chosen to preserve colour when my idea was to focus in the image as an overall and b&w when focusing on faces or details. But it’s really difficult because, in this case, colour plays a really important role in the festivity.

      • That’s true. I did not convert most of my Latin America photos into b&w, as Latin America is so colorful and not everything looks good in b&w.

  1. Oh My dear, these are so BEAUTIFUL… especially these little pink ladies (first two photographs)…. I loved them so much…. I am inspired too, maybe I can make something like that to my dolls… 🙂 Thank you dear Santi you captured such an amazing photographs… I can never forget. Have a nice day, with my love, nia

      • even you can post forever 🙂 I can never get bored dear Santi… They are so beautiful, and your photography is great… how possible to say it is enough! I just wonder when does it happen this festival, maybe next time I want to make a plan for this. I loved it so much… Thanks and Love, nia

      • The festival is the week previous to March, 19th (San Jose, the last day). In this day the Fallas (street monuments made of papier mache, I will post a photo) are burnt. 🙂

    • Yes, they are really complex. This year it seems that red, pale pĂŹnk and pale blue have been trending, but there are a great varieties of designs. I let them in colour if I want to show the general context and I use the b&w if I want to focus in the faces and body language (I think that the colours are so bright and diverse that divert the sight towards the clothes and not the faces, hands,…).
