When pride doesn’t feed people (or, “Crisis, what crisis?”)
This shot was taken this Sunday. The Spanish team won the European Cup making history. Our President was there enjoying the victory that shows our potential. But, not in Ukraine but in Spain, people lose their houses and employs, the fires move people away from their homes, there is money to save the banks and the highway companies, we forgive the rich who have defrauded the Treasury and we can pay near half a million politicians (yes, it’s true), but there is no money for education, health, firefighters, public workers, unemployed people…
But we can rest easy, we have won the European Championship and with that we can be sure that the crisis is not so severe.

very strong, poignant work Juan
Thanks, John!!
i’m with you on this one, santi.
congrats for the very well-deserved victory
Thanks, Alessandro!! And congrats to you too, because the Azzurra has made a fantastic competition.
It seems that people feel the same about economy and their politicians all over the world…
Congrats on the victory.
Thanks, Barbara!! What worries me is when people assume this. It’s the old maxim of the Roman Empire “panem et circenses” (bread and circuses).
Yes, congratulations. It’s a great image, Santi. I’m sorry to hear about what’s happening in your country – I was talking to a Spanish friend the day before yesterday – she explained a little of what’s going on – it’s terrible.
Thanks, Richard!! It’s becoming worse each day (not only in Spain) but we cannot surrender and leave the politicians to kill the society.
Crisis=the most intensive, globalised, localised money transfer from 99% of us to 1% of them…
What scares me is that society allow this. Thanks!!
“What scares me is that society allow this”
For that we are partly to blame.. I cannot speak for how people live in Spain but here in the states we have our 4 T.V’s in our homes as well as a multitude of other entertainment devices and while people are starving around us. But yet our media does not cover any of those stories. No one wants to know that people don’t have food to eat the care more about where our Hollywood celebs went for breakfast and sadly that is what the news and talk shows spend a significant amount of time covering.. But guess what. There is no outrage or calls for change.. We accept it and move on until stuff hits the fan close to home..
Same happens here!!
FYI forgot to mention that this is a powerful image and I thank you for sharing it!
Thanks a lot!!!
